Instant pot chicken ala king recipe. Chicken ala king is a popular dish with easy cooking and tasty flavors. Serve over rice, pasta, quinoa, or broccoli and mashed potatoes.

If you’re looking for a quick and delicious recipe, chicken a la king refers to a rich and creamy sauce, which typically includes some form of chicken and vegetables. My recipe uses uncooked chicken thighs. I like this recipe because it’s a great way to use up-cooked or leftover chicken and turkey. The chicken will be cooked enough in just a few minutes, which is fantastic and will save time.

Would you like to try frozen chicken instead? Pressure cooking would give it a similar level of deliciousness.

Chicken A La King is traditionally made with pimientos, but I use red bell peppers. The flavor was delicious and I loved the test. You can add in different colors, including green, red, and yellow bell peppers to help create a colorful dish. In addition to that, you can also add in differently colored frozen vegetables such as peas, carrots, or broccoli instead of just peas.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 pound (240 g) chopped mushrooms
  • 1½ (375 ml) chicken broth
  • 1½ pounds (720 g) boneless and skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup diced red bell peppers
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed

Method

Step 1

Melt the butter in an electric instant pot turned to saute mode. Add mushrooms and saute, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

Step 2

Add chicken, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, and paprika to the cooker. Cover the pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook to high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 12 minutes

Step 3

Using the Quick Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid.

Step 4

Pour the milk into the glass measuring cup. Whisk in all-purpose flour, a tablespoon at a time, until smooth. Pour in a cup of hot broth into the milk mixture, then pour the mixture into the pressure cooker. Switch the cooker to saute mode and let the sauce thicken for about 5 minutes.

Step 5

While the sauce is thickening, add bell peppers and peas. Dice the chicken, then season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot.
