Air fryer orange chicken recipe. Chicken breasts fried in an air fryer and served with homemade orange sauce. Yummy! Cook it in an instant pot-Instant Pot Orange Chicken
I love making stir-fried dishes from scratch. And my favorite way to make them is in my air fryer. This Air Fryer Orange Chicken recipe was made in my air fryer too. I like it better than Chinese takeout because it doesn’t have any processed ingredients or artificial flavoring. It’s all natural!
I started making my sauces because they’re easy to make and much healthier than getting takeout or buying sauces from a grocery store.
This recipe goes best with rice and some veggie sides. Try air-frying some broccoli with Parmesan cheese or Asian-style green beans for a delicious meal.
How to Make Air-Fried Orange Chicken
Turn on your air fryer and set it to 400 degrees. Cut your chicken into cubes. They don’t need to be perfect but try to make them all similar in size. This helps them cook evenly so none are too cooked or too raw.
Put the diced chicken in a bowl or Ziploc bag. Sprinkle half the cornstarch over it and mix it. Shake the contents of the bowl or bag so the chicken cubes are evenly covered.
Add extra cornstarch if needed, but make sure the chicken isn’t too coated with powder. Once the chicken has a thin, even coating, you are ready to go. When you add too much potato or cornstarch to chicken, it’s not a good thing. Put the coated chicken in the air fryer and make sure you tap off any extra cornstarch.
Fry for 7-9 minutes While the chicken is cooking, give the basket a shake every few minutes so the pieces cook evenly. If the pieces are stuck together, try to separate them. To make the orange sauce, mix orange juice, brown sugar, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, red pepper flakes, and orange zest in a saucepan and heat over medium.
Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. In a bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Add this to the sauce and simmer for one more minute. Then remove from heat and let cool – the sauce will thicken as it cools. until the inside of the chicken is 165 degrees.
Take the chicken out of the air fryer. Mix it with the sauce. If you want, add green onions and sesame seeds. Now, it’s ready to eat! Enjoy!
