Fried butter prawns. Delicious spicy Malaysian prawns recipe. Very easy to make. You may also like Prawns Ravigote, another yummy prawns recipe.
Fried Butter Prawns
Ingredients
- 1 pound (480 g) large prawns, deveined, heads and shells intact
- cooking oil for deep frying
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 6 chilies, chopped
- 3 sprigs of curry leaves (use only the leaves)
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 6 tablespoons grated coconut
Method
Step 1
Chop off the eyes part of prawns. Pat dry with paper towel. Set prawns aside.
Step 2
In a deep fryer, preheat oil. Fry prawns in a hot oil. Drain and set aside.
Step 3
In a deep fryer, combine melted butter, chilies, curry leaves, garlic, and salt. Fry for 2 minutes or until fragrant. Add remaining ingredients and cook over high heat, stirring, for 1-2 minutes.
Step 4
Serve fried butter prawns immediately.
