How to Make Honey-Mustard Chicken Breasts in an Instant Pot

Follow these simple steps to make this yummy recipe in an Instant Pot. Start by gathering your ingredients: boneless chicken breasts, honey, mustard, Italian seasoning, paprika, and water.

Begin by seasoning the chicken with Italian seasoning and paprika. This will add a flavorful kick to the dish. In a separate bowl, mix honey and mustard until well combined.

Next, pour the water into the Instant Pot and place the seasoned chicken breasts on top. Pour the honey-mustard mixture over the chicken, ensuring each breast is evenly coated.

Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set the cooking time according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Cook the chicken on high pressure for the recommended time.

Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for a few minutes before carefully opening the lid. The chicken should be tender and juicy, infused with honey and mustard’s sweet and tangy flavors.

Serve the honey-mustard chicken breasts with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad. This dish is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal, as the Instant Pot cuts down on cooking time without sacrificing flavor. Enjoy the succulent chicken breasts with the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess.

Honey-Mustard Chicken Breasts Serving Suggestions

Once you have cooked the delicious honey-mustard chicken breasts in your Instant Pot, it’s time to think about how to serve them. Here are a few serving suggestions to complement the flavors of this dish.

1. Pair the chicken with a side of roasted vegetables. The sweetness of the honey and the tanginess of the mustard will be perfectly balanced with the savory flavors of roasted carrots, broccoli, or Brussels sprouts.

2. Serve it over a bed of fluffy white rice or quinoa. The grains will soak up the flavorful sauce, adding an extra layer of taste and texture to the dish.

3. For a lighter option, slice the chicken and use it as a topping for a fresh salad. Combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and avocado, and drizzle with a light vinaigrette. The honey-mustard chicken will add a burst of flavor to the salad.

4. If you’re looking for a more indulgent option, serve the chicken breasts on a toasted bun with lettuce and tomato, creating a delicious honey-mustard chicken sandwich.

5. To add a touch of elegance to your meal, serve the chicken with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus. The creamy potatoes will complement the tangy flavors of the honey-mustard sauce, while the asparagus adds a fresh and vibrant element to the plate.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) honey
  • 1 cup (250 ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 boneless and skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Method

Step 1

In an electric instant pot, combine honey and water. Turn the pot to the sauté mode. Cook, uncovered, stirring constantly, until honey dissolves, for about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Stir in the mustard, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Set the steam rack inside, then add chicken breasts and coat with honey mustard mixture.

Step 3

Close the pot and lock the lid. Set the machine to cook at high pressure. Set the timer to cook for 8 minutes (if you use frozen chicken, set the timer for 12 minutes)

Step 4

Using the Quick Release method, bring pressure to normal. Carefully unlock and open the lid. Remove cooked chicken from the cooker and set aside.

Step 5

Stir combined cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water into mustard-honey sauce. Switch to the sauté mode. Bring to a boil, then thicken for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Return cooked chicken to the instant pot. Coat with sauce. Serve hot.
