Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350º F (175º C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch (22.5×26 cm) baking dish with a nonstick cooking spray.

  • 1 cup (250 ml) beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound (480 g) ground pork
  • 1 pound (480 g) ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1½ teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sour cream

Step 1

In a 6-quart (6 L) slow cooker, combine beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, turkey, breadcrumbs, eggs, allspice, onion powder, 2 teaspoons salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Using your hands, mix well. Roll the meat mixture into balls, then arrange in a single layer in the slow cooker. When the bottom of the cooker is covered, add one more level.

Step 3

Cover the pot and cook on a high heat setting for 2 hours, or until meatballs are cooked through.

Step 4

In a small mixing bowl, combine the butter and all-purpose flour. Mix until a smooth paste. Set aside.

Step 5

Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Using a slotted spoon, remove cooked meatballs from the pot and transfer them to a large bowl, reserving cooking liquid.

Step 6

Stir the butter-flour paste into the reserved liquid. Pour in the sour cream. Return meatballs to the pot and stir well to coat with the sauce.

Step 7

Cook on high heat setting, uncovered, until the sauce is thickened, for a further 30 minutes.

Step 8

Remove meatballs from the cooker and transfer them to a serving plate. Pour the sauce over. Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.
