Easy slow cooker chicken stew paprikash. Chicken breasts with vegetables and spices cooked in a slow cooker.
Serve this tasty stew with thick slices of warm sourdough bread.
Cut chicken breasts into halves. Peel and Finely chop 2 medium yellow onions.
Peel and mince 2 cloves garlic.
In a slow cooker combine, 1 pound (480 g) chicken breasts,14½ oz (435 ml) stewed tomatoes,1/2 cup (125 ml) low-sodium and fat-free chicken broth, onions, garlic, paprika, and1 teaspoon poppy seeds. Mix well.
Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours.
In a small mixing bowl,combine1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1/2 cup (125 ml) sour cream. Stir well.
Open slow cooker and pour in cornstarch mixture.
Cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
Turn off slow cooker. Ladle chicken paprikash stew into soup bowls. Serve hot.

Ingredients
- 1 pound (480 g) chicken breats,halved
- 14½ oz (435 ml) can stewed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) low-sodium fat-free chicken broth
- 2 medium yellow onions,peeled and finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic,peeled and minced
- 3 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup low-fat sour cream
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- salt and freshly ground black pepper,to taste
Method
Step 1
In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients, except sour cream, cornstarch, and seasoning. Mix well.
Step 2
Cover slow cooker and cook on low-heat setting for 6-8 hours or until chicken is tender.
Step 3
Open slow cooker and stir in combined sour cream and cornstarch. Cook, stirring, for a further 2-3 minutes.
Step 4
Turn off slow cooker. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Ladle into soup bowls. Serve chicken stew paprikash hot.
