Slow cooker buttermilk bread. Buttermilk bread cooked in a slow cooker. The great pair for soups and stews. You may also like Banana Nut Bread, another delicious dessert cooked in a crock pot.

Slow Cooker Buttermilk Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) low-fat buttermilk

Method

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir well. Add butter and stir until mixture resembles small crumbs.

Step 2

Stir in buttermilk. Knead dough on floured surface for a couple of minutes. Pat dough into greased sringform pan. Arrange on rack in slow cooker.

Step 3

Cover slow cooker and cook on high-heat setting for 2-2 ½ hours or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 4

Turn off slow cooker. Cool buttermilk bread on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove side of pan. Break off pieces to serve.
