Slow cooker porchetta recipe. Porchetta with crackling skin and moist, tender meat. It’s the perfect winter dish! Porchetta is a traditional Italian dish that dates back to ancient Roman times. The pork is stuffed with the following: garlic, salt, pepper, fennel, thyme, and sage.
What spices can you use to flavor the meat?
There are many different spices that can be used to flavor the meat. However, each one will affect the flavor and texture of the meat in a different way. Therefore, it is important to experiment with different spices and figure out which one your taste buds like best.
The key ingredients for an Indian curry typically include turmeric, garlic, ginger, onions, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and curry leaves. With these spices and other Indian staples such as cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods, you can create a delicious curry dish.
What is the best way to store porchetta after cooking it in the slow cooker?
Porchetta has become a Thanksgiving favorite for many. And if you are looking for ways to make it after the holiday, you might be wondering what is the best way to store the porchetta after cooking it.
You can either wrap up individual porchettas or place them in a casserole dish with some of the cooking liquid and put them into an oven to keep warm. If you don’t want to heat them up, then I would suggest just putting them in a sealed container and putting it in the fridge overnight to cool down.
How long should I cook porchetta?
Porchetta is a classic Italian dish of boneless pork that is rolled up with herbs and spices, then baked or roasted. It can be cooked in a slow cooker for a long time to break down the meat.
The cooking time for porchetta varies depending on the size of the roast, but it typically takes two hours per pound at a low setting. For example, an eight-pound roast will take 12 hours to cook in the slow cooker. Porchetta can also be cooked in an oven at 325°F for an hour per pound.

Ingredients
- 2½ pounds (1.44 kg) boneless pork shoulder
- freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon crashed red pepper flakes
- 1 yellow onion, peeled and quartered
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- sea salt
Method
Step 1
Place the pork in a large bowl and season generously with salt and black pepper. Scor the skin with a sharp knife about 1/8 inch deep, cutting in a diagonal criss-cross pattern about 1/2inch apart.
Step 2
In a food processor, combine all herbs and spices. Process until finely ground. Massage inside of the meat with the spicy mixture.
Step 3
Lay seasoned pork shoulder skin-side down, then roll the meat tightly and tie with butcher's string. Place onion quarters in a slow cooker. Top with rolled pork.
Step 4
Cover the pot and cook in a low-heat setting for 8-9 hours.
Step 5
Turn off the slow cooker and open the lid. Remove cooked pork from the cooker and transfer it to a cutting board. Drain excess, then pat it dry with paper towels.
Step 6
In a large nonstick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork and sear until crispy, for about 6 minutes, rotating halfway through.
Step 7
Remove seared meat from the cooker and transfer it to a cutting board. Remove butcher's string. Slice and enjoy!
